PEMF Therapy: Staying Grounded through the latest health buzz
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy is an emerging therapeutic technique that utilizes electromagnetic fields to promote healing and enhance overall wellness. As a non-invasive and drug-free approach, PEMF therapy is gaining recognition for its wide range of applications, from pain management to improved cellular function.
Understanding PEMF Therapy, Grounding, Earthing.
Grounding or earthing is essentially, contacting the Earth’s surface, using it’s magnetic field to reset the body’s PH, but why do we need to worry about our body’s PH and what does it actually mean?
PH is an acid/alkaline scale, as you get lower on the scale you become more acidic, as you get higher, more alkaline, this is important for humans as disease does not thrive in an alkaline environment, highlighted by recent marketing ploys to sell alkaline water – It is impossible to affect your body’s PH by drinking alkaline water, this is a myth!
PH stands for Potential Hydrogen, meaning PH is a charge, so the only way to change that charge is to apply a low gauss current, a magnetic current about the same strength as the Earth’s surface.
When applied, this current creates an electron exchange, as we discharge, we change the electrical field in the body, repolarizing the surface of our cells.
In order to exchange nutrients and Oxygen, eliminate waste, repair and divide, cells must exchange with their outside environment and they do this through ion channels as electrical charges.
As with magnets, equally charged cells repel each other, which allows the full surface area of each cell to interact with its outside environment, if the cells become oppositely charged, they clump up, creating less surface area on each cells, reducing the nutrient exchange with the outside environment.
This can actually be seen in a drop of blood under a microscope, before grounding the red blood cells are clumped together, after grounding they move freely around each other.
This repolarization happens in every cell in the body, including mitochondria (organelles in cells that produce energy), improving circulation, increasing oxygen, promoting waste removal and cell repair, as well as increasing energy and mental clarity.
Not a bad return on investment for 3-5 minutes standing still!
How to get started:
If you’re fortunate enough to have a climate and lifestyle which allows it, all you need to do is make contact with the Earth’s surface for 3-5 minutes a day, contact must be direct, no footwear or socks and on grass, sand or dirt, not through tiles or concrete, anything other than natural materials of the Earth’s surface block the electromagnetic field.
If you live in the rest of the world, PEMF mats are devices which mimic this electromagnetic field, they can be put in a bed, as a mat on the floor by a chair, or as a separate yoga style mat to sit on. PEMF can be easily incorporated into a daily routine, used whilst doing breath work, or simply whilst enjoying your first coffee.
Benefits of PEMF Therapy
Pain Relief: One of the most notable benefits of PEMF therapy is its ability to alleviate chronic pain. By reducing inflammation and improving blood flow, it can provide relief for conditions such as arthritis, fibromyalgia, and sports injuries without the need for pharmaceuticals.
Enhanced Recovery: Athletes and active individuals use PEMF therapy to speed up recovery from workouts and injuries. The increased circulation aids in the removal of toxins and promotes faster healing of muscles and tissues.
Improved Sleep Quality: Many users report better sleep patterns following PEMF therapy sessions. By promoting relaxation and reducing stress, it helps regulate sleep cycles and improve overall sleep quality.
Stress Reduction: PEMF therapy can significantly lower stress levels. The calming effects of the electromagnetic fields help balance the autonomic nervous system, leading to enhanced mental clarity and reduced anxiety.
Cellular Health: By improving cellular metabolism and function, PEMF therapy can enhance overall health. It promotes the absorption of nutrients and the elimination of waste, supporting optimal cellular performance.
Safe and Non-Invasive
PEMF therapy is considered safe for most individuals and is non-invasive, requiring no surgical procedures or injections. It has minimal side effects, making it a suitable option for people of all ages, including those with chronic health conditions.
